Hey Folks! Loan Singh here and boy am I excited or what. It’s finally here guys! No, not the Friday weekend movie release, but the smartphone which everyone has been waiting for – Samsung Galaxy S9. After all the hype, excitement and tech reviews, Samsung has finally launched its next flagship Galaxy offering in India.
The Galaxy Note and Galaxy S series handsets are Samsung’s flagship products in maintaining the brand’s hegemony in the Android-powered global smartphone market. 2017 saw the release of Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+. This helped Samsung maintain its leadership against Apple for being the best-selling smartphone manufacturer. After the announcement of the Galaxy S9 at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona, it wasn’t going to take long for Samsung to launch the S9 and S9+ on Friday in India.
How much does the Samsung Galaxy S9 cost?
The Samsung Galaxy S9 64GB variant is priced at Rs.57,900 with the 256GB variant costing Rs.65,900. The Samsung Galaxy S9+, however, starts at Rs. 64,900 for the 64GB variant and goes up to Rs.72,900 for the 256GB variant. Both prices are inclusive of taxes.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Loan Singh Review
Samsung S9+ is a great option if you want to go for a larger display size and bigger battery capacity. Compared to the previous generation Galaxy S series handsets, the latest one is definitely faster, with better cameras and enhanced audio (this is possible due to the AKG tuned dual speakers). I will throw the AR Emoji in there as well.
The design for the Galaxy S8 was great, therefore not too much of an upgrade is visible in the design of Samsung Galaxy S9. After all, why improve something when it is loved by all. The premium feel of metal and glass is instinctive. The S9 is easier to handle due to its low weight. The aluminum sides offer better grip. The size of the phone can be an issue for individuals with smaller hands.

Wireless charging is possible through the back of the phone and Samsung Pay allows a touchless payment feature. The buttons are tactile and provide good feedback. The Bixby button leads you to Bixby’s home screen where you get access to news, places and social media updates. Voice commands can be activated. The 3.5mm headphone socket is retained in the S9 along with a USB Type-C port. The speaker is rooted to the bottom. The S9 comes with a Nano-SIM tray on the top.
The fingerprint sensors are easily accessible. Its ridges ensure differentiation from the camera module. Heart rate sensors are present. The S9 is enabled with GPS, USB-OTG, VoLTE, MIMO antennas, NFC and Bluetooth 5. You can submerge the S9 to up to 1.5m under water for up to 30 minutes.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with a security feature called Intelligent Scan which combines both face scanning and iris recognition while unlocking (take off the sunglasses though). The pre-installed app, Samsung Pass, lets you log in to websites using biometrics. While playing a game you can suppress alerts and prevent accidental touches to the edges. You can take screenshots and screen captures during gameplay.
Smart Dual SIM feature allows you to use both active SIMs simultaneously. The AKG tuned speakers provide great sound quality, which has been a sore thumb with Samsung for long. In case of the S9, the earpiece acts like the second speaker. Dolby Atmos boosts the treble and midrange making vocals crisper. The display supports HDR. The AR Emoji feature lets you create your virtual avatar as a customized emoji. The emoji is then sharable to any app. Bixby Vision (activated using the phone’s camera app) offers live translation features, along with building and scene recognition. The Calorie Counter lets you count calories the next time you go out for a morning jog. The camera app is a lot easier to use now because you can now rearrange the order of the mode icons and select them by simply swiping across the viewfinder. A 240fps slow-motion video can be recorded at 1080p.
Samsung Galaxy S9 – The Perfect Smartphone
If you are frustrated with your current phone and are in need of an upgrade, then don’t look past my real quick review and get your hands on that Samsung Galaxy S9. Trust me you won’t regret it. In case, the close to Rs.58K price tag is making you finch, we have a super solution for that as well. Head over to Airtel’s Online Store and buy the Samsung Galaxy S9 for as low as Rs.2499. It cannot get better than this.
