The other day, I asked my friend Roy to suggest me a really good smartphone. He was like, “Samsung Note 8. What a phone man! It has a big screen, big camera, big storage, big display, Samsung’s service and a solid phone”. I was like, “Yeah okay, but almost all phones nowadays come with a big screen, storage etc. What’s so different about the Note 8?”, I asked. He replied with “It’s got a pen…” J

Affordable EMIs on Airtel Online Store

To ensure that the Airtel Online Store provides an easy and hassle-free financing solution, Airtel has partnered with Seynse Technologies (developers of Loan Singh). This collaboration allows a customer to simply add the smartphone to his/her cart, purchase the smartphone via instant credit verification and receive the same at their doorstep. This is a pioneering process of the Airtel Online Store that combines both e-commerce and instant online financing.

Goa-based Seynse Technologies Pvt. Ltd prides itself in being associated with Airtel for the Airtel Online Store in allowing creditworthy individuals to buy the smartphones. The role of Seynse, in the partnership, is to enable the technology and credit underwriting. Seynse simply determines if the customer is eligible to avail credit. This is nothing new for Seynse. Seynse is already the developer of a LaaS (Lending as a Service) platform called Loan Singh, which provides an online personal loan to salaried individuals. Loan Singh covers the entire digital loan lifecycle from application to disbursement, including EMI repayment and managing fund flow. Seamless integration between participating entities makes the entire loan lifecycle an everlasting experience.

The stunning Note 8 comes with a slightly squarer camera module and sharper edges. This is an exception to the curvaceous designs of the S9 and S9+. The iconic ‘Infinity Display’ is still present, with the right and left sides of the screen sloping off the edges. You get an ultra-thin top to bottom bezel. The entire smartphone is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.0. The Note 8 is IP68-certified, which means it is waterproof even when subjected to 30 minutes of submersion.

The camera module is shaped in such a way that it protects the lenses in case the phone falls down on its back. The front-facing camera and iris scanner is placed at the top bezel with the earpiece and LED notification light. The lower portion of the phone’s screen is a pressure sensitive home button. The left edge contains the volume rocker and the Bixby personal assistant button. The power button is situated on the right side. The lower edge contains the 3.5mm headphone socket with the pop-out S Pen stylus. The SIM card/microSD card slot is placed at the top.

This makes the screen stand out. The brightness can go up to glaring 1200 nits. Just to give you a comparison, a standard laptop goes up to 300 nits, with an HDR TV giving 1000 nits. The AMOLED display manages the rich colors well and the text tends to get sharper thanks to the WQHD display.
